Our teacher training series is building the capacity of public primary school teachers who are still in Service around Local Government Education Authorities in Lagos-Nigeria. These training workshops are scheduled to hold Six (6) times a year in 5 pre-selected LGEAs in our Pilot state, Lagos. Learn more about how we improve government teachers and create, train and support new teachers where they’re needed most,
Public school teachers are hired by the Government and cannot be easily replaced. They will, therefore, be re-trained in areas where they are lagging behind. The BAF training is yearlong and immersive so participants are able to unlearn and learn the right skills. The post-training follow-up and one-to-one mentoring for teachers provide an opportunity to discuss specific challenges with their coach for a year. The 2018 pilot training revealed a 30% increase in student classroom performance. This year, with the funding and support of the google grants award and some of our recurring donors we are expanding our reach to 1060 Schools. Covering 5 more LGEAs and making it more inclusive by retraining school Managers. At least 2700 students will be affected by one unqualified teacher in a space of 35 years in service. Re-training 1000 plus teachers will prevent having millions of half-baked school leavers. Our 2018 pilot is giving 18,000 children access to quality education annually through 300 teachers trained. By 2020, we will be helping 70,000 children access quality education. The impact is a society of school leavers who are able to read and write and qualified teachers who know enough to deliver quality.
