Continuous In-Service Training for Public Primary School Teachers.

The BAF Continuous In-Service Training for Public primary school Teachers (CITPPST) aims to retrain teachers in order to build their capacity to deliver quality education to the pupils.

During 2018, 500 public Primary School teachers were enrolled in the In-Service training and 286 of these Teachers successfully completed the year-long training and graduated. Some specific achievements from our programmes include:

The impact of this training can be noticed in the level of Teaching quality which serves as the highest Indicator for learning.

Key results achieved after the 6th Classroom Training Post Training include:

57% of Teachers enrolled in the year long training successfully graduated.
26% Decrease in the number of classroom teachers rated Requires improvement
27% increase in the number of OUTSTANDING Teachers
54% of Teachers converted from INADEQUATE and REQUIRES IMPROVEMENT to GOOD

Our programmes monitoring and evaluation team on the 2018 intervention programme highlighted the value of carrying out an extensive Classroom Monitoring exercise following the physical peer-peer training, as well as the key role played by Bunmi Adedayo Foundation in mentoring and engaging these teachers via physical and virtual platforms.

The Tech-Relevant Teacher (TRT) project is an educational intervention initiative designed to address the challenges faced by low-income and middle-income schools as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. With the recognition that virtual teaching skills have become vital for continued educational progress in the post-COVID era, this project aims to empower school leaders and classroom teachers. Sponsored by The Coca-Cola Foundation (TCCF), the TRT project was implemented over the span of February 2021 to June 2021. The project directly impacted 648 educators from 200 schools in Lagos State. Additionally, it had an indirect influence on 20,000 primary school children and 1,400 teachers in the same area.

 

Subject Enhancement Programme in Mathematics (SEP-M)

The Subject Enhancement Program in Mathematics (SEP-M) aims to address the significant gaps in subject competency among mathematics teachers in Nigeria. With support from Google through the Google Impact Challenge Funding in 2021 and DATATEC in 2023, SEP-M has made a direct impact on 1,600 educators from 800 low-income primary schools located in Lagos, Ogun, Osun, and Rivers States in Nigeria. Furthermore, it has indirectly influenced 39,000 primary school children and 2,600 teachers within the same regions.

 
BAF SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME

The BAF Scholarship Program aims to provide educational opportunities and empower deserving students with the financial means to pursue their academic aspirations. Through the BAF Scholarship Program, students with limited financial resources are given the chance to access quality education and unlock their full potential. The program focuses on selecting students who demonstrate exceptional academic potential, as well as those who display strong character, leadership qualities, and a commitment to making a difference in society. The initiative from 2016 has impacted 17 primary schools’ pupils with 6 years academic scholarship and 1 tertiary education scholarship.The infographics should be updated.
